What do the symbols mean in diamond painting?

The symbols on your canvas show you which stone color belongs in each spot. The legend in your kit links each symbol used to a color number. You can find the right stones using this number.

How to find your symbol in the catalog

You don't have to search through all 447 symbols individually. The symbols are divided into categories based on their appearance – for example, arrows, shapes, nature motifs, as well as letters and numbers.

Follow these steps:

1. Choose the appropriate category. Is your symbol an arrow, a letter, or a recognizable object?

2. Compare the exact shape. Pay attention to small details and orientation.

3. Read the color number. It is located right next to the original symbol.

4. Check the legend in your kit. If everything matches, you can select the right stones.

Small differences that are easy to miss

Some symbols look almost identical at first glance. Pay close attention to these features:

• Dots: An additional dot can indicate a different symbol.

• Lines: One or more lines can make a difference.

• Filling: A filled-in triangle is a different symbol from an outlined triangle.

• Orientation: Arrows and open shapes can point in different directions.

The background color can help you recognize it. However, do not rely on it alone: screen displays and printing can render colors differently.

Your sorting system makes all the difference

Label your containers with the symbol and color number whenever possible. This way, you can switch between your canvas, legend, and stones without having to memorize the assignments.
